Bengal Club Celebrates Channel i Anniversary in Atlantic City

Subrata Chowdhury, Atlantic City — The Bengal Club in Atlantic City, New Jersey, celebrated the anniversary of Bangladesh’s popular satellite television network Channel i with a festive gathering featuring cake cutting, music and community camaraderie. The celebration was held Friday night, October 2, at the Bengal Club auditorium, where members of the Bangladeshi-American community gathered to mark the occasion.

Channel i’s New Jersey correspondent and journalist Subrata Chowdhury attended the event as a special guest. Bengal Club officials presented him with a floral tribute as a gesture of congratulations on the occasion of Channel i’s anniversary. Community leaders and organizers, including Shahru Raja Chowdhury, Anisur Rahman and Md. Kaiser, delivered congratulatory remarks during the program.

Speakers highlighted Channel i’s longstanding role in connecting Bangladeshis at home and abroad with the country’s news, culture and traditions. They noted that the channel has continued to serve as a link between Bangladesh and Bangladeshi communities living in different parts of the world. The evening also featured musical performances by Helal Hasan and Masum Baul, along with greetings, conversations and informal gatherings among attendees.

Participants wished Channel i continued success and growth in the years ahead and praised its contribution to promoting Bangladeshi culture and heritage among expatriate communities.




New Khulna Divisional Society of New Jersey Launched in Atlantic City

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — A new community organization, the Khulna Divisional Society of New Jersey, has been formally launched in Atlantic City to strengthen fraternity, cooperation and mutual support among members of the Khulna Division community living in South Jersey.

Although several district-based organizations are active in South Jersey and Atlantic City, the Khulna Division community had not previously had a dedicated organization of its own. The new initiative was established following a long period of planning and collaborative efforts by senior community members, including Rezaul Islam Khalid, Golam Mostafa, Sheikh Amin, Shahanur Nanna, Altaf Hossain, Md. Hasan, Imtiaz Litu, Tafir and other senior members of the southern Bangladesh community.

The organization began its activities at an event held at Gourmet Restaurant on Atlantic Avenue in Atlantic City at 7 p.m. on September 23. The meeting was chaired by Sheikh Amin, a native of Khulna, while veteran Jessore politician Rezaul Islam Khalid moderated the discussion.

During the meeting, participants emphasized the need for an organization that would promote mutual respect, brotherhood, cooperation and stronger community ties among people from the Khulna Division living in New Jersey. Following the discussion, an ad hoc committee was formed with Sheikh Nasir Khokon as convener and Md. Moniruzzaman as member secretary. Helal Hasan was named joint convener, while Imran Hossain was appointed joint member secretary.

Speakers at the meeting included Md. George, Tanmoy, Oni, Shipul, Imtiaz Litu, Helal Hasan, Imran Hossain, Golam Mostafa, Sheikh Amin, Shahanur Nanna, Altaf Hossain, Moniruzzaman, Sheikh Nasir and Tanmoy, among others. Speakers expressed their support for the new organization and highlighted the importance of maintaining unity, friendship and cooperation among members of the Khulna Division community. The program concluded with remarks from the chair, followed by a dinner for the guests and participants.




BASJ to Host Mezbaan in Atlantic City on September 29

Subrata Chowdhury, ATLANTIC CITY, NJ — The Bangladesh Association of South Jersey (BASJ) will host a traditional Mezbaan on Tuesday, September 29, in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The event will take place from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Bangladesh Community Center, 2709 Fairmount Avenue, Atlantic City.

A preparatory meeting for the Mezbaan was held on September 22 at the Bangladesh Community Center. BASJ President Zahirul Islam Babul, Abdus Rafiq and other leaders of the organization discussed preparations for the event in detail. BASJ President Zahirul Islam Babul, General Secretary Zakirul Islam Khoka and Trustee Board President Abdus Rafiq have invited members of the Bangladeshi community to attend the Mezbaan.

The organizers said Bangladeshi expatriates from Atlantic City and surrounding communities are expected to participate in the traditional gathering. The Mezbaan is part of the Bangladeshi-American community’s effort to preserve and celebrate the traditional food and cultural heritage of Bangladesh in the United States.




Atlantic City Fashion Week 2026 Celebrates 15th Anniversary

Subrata Chowdhury, Atlantic City — The glitz and glamour of fashion took center stage at the Showboat Hotel as Atlantic City Fashion Week 2026 brought together designers, models, fashion entrepreneurs and enthusiasts for a three-day celebration of style, creativity and culture.

The event, held from September 17 through September 19, transformed the Showboat Hotel into a vibrant fashion destination, featuring runway presentations, contemporary designs and opportunities for professionals and fashion enthusiasts to connect.

Throughout the three-day event, models showcased a wide range of designs on the runway, highlighting the creativity of designers from the United States and abroad. The collections reflected diverse styles, innovative concepts and contemporary fashion trends, creating an energetic atmosphere for audiences.

Beyond the runway shows, the event provided opportunities for networking, entertainment and creative collaboration. Fashion designers, models, entrepreneurs and industry enthusiasts gathered to exchange ideas, build professional connections and explore emerging trends within the fashion industry.

This year’s event carried additional significance as Atlantic City Fashion Week celebrated its 15th anniversary. Launched in 2011, the fashion event has grown into a recurring part of Atlantic City’s fashion and cultural calendar and is held three times a year.

Organized through a partnership between Fashion Style Magazine and KingBee Media, Atlantic City Fashion Week has continued to provide a platform for designers and models to showcase their work while bringing together different segments of the fashion community.
