BASJ Organizes Food Bank for Local Communities in Atlantic City

Subrata Chowdhury, Atlantic City — The Bangladesh Association of South Jersey (BASJ) organized a food bank program in Atlantic City, New Jersey, distributing fresh vegetables, fruits, canned goods, and other food items to members of local communities.

The program was held on Thursday, October 22, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Bangladesh Community Center on Fairmount Avenue. Residents from various communities across Atlantic City participated in the initiative. The Community FoodBank of New Jersey supported the food distribution program, helping provide essential food supplies to people in need.

The initiative received a positive response from the local community, particularly at a time when rising grocery prices continue to put pressure on household budgets. By distributing essential food items, the program aimed to help address food needs while promoting community support and solidarity.

As part of its ongoing community service initiatives, the Bangladesh Association of South Jersey organizes food bank programs four times a month. The regular distributions are intended to provide continued assistance to local residents experiencing food insecurity.

Following the successful completion of the program, BASJ President Md. Zahirul Islam Babul, General Secretary Md. Zakirul Islam Khoka, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees Abdur Rafiq thanked everyone involved for their cooperation and support. The initiative reflects BASJ’s continued commitment to community service, food assistance, and strengthening relationships among diverse communities in South Jersey.
